Awestomy Active's Journey

The Idea!

Awestomy Active, a clothing line tailored for the ostomy community, was conceived by the owner approximately 5-6 years ago. Prior to this, she held a position on the executive team of a prominent ostomy product manufacturer. However, she decided to leave her position and began to pursue her passion for assisting ostomates. 

Her desire was to begin to build a complete clothing line for ostomates. And that is still the desire today. 

The Goal!

The primary objective was to create products of exceptional quality, exceptional functionality, and fabrics that are incredibly comfortable to wear. Additionally, she aimed to design products that exude a visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing appearance, something that customers would be proud to display openly. Furthermore, she envisioned an overall shopping experience that exudes professionalism and quality, reflecting the dignity and worth of ostomates. She didn't want the products to look or feel like medical clothing, she wanted it to look and feel like PEOPLE clothing. 

The Journey

We began with a range of tops and bottoms, swimwear, and workout wear. These items were designed to be versatile, suitable for both casual and dressier occasions. Notably, they were all equipped with features that catered to ostomates. To ensure the best fit and ensure the products met the needs of ostomates, we conducted fitting sessions with real ostomates, conducted tests, and conducted surveys. She had a big vision, and she still does. 

We decided to take a step back and focus on getting the basics right! We introduced wraps and belts, and we want people to try them out and let us know what they like and don’t like. We want to evolve the product and involve the community in building the next iteration and future products. Our goal is to be here for the long haul!
